Examiners for Single Engine Piston (SEP) and/or Multi Engine Piston (MEP) and/or IR
The aim of an FE / CRE / IRE Standardisation Course is to qualify instructor pilots in order to be able to conduct flight examination in aircraft.
However, an examiner should hold a certificate which is appropriate to the examination given. For example:
FEs:
Are to conduct skill tests for the issue of the PPL & CPL, and proficiency checks for associated/ single-pilot class and type ratings
CREs:
Are to conduct skill tests for the issue of class and type ratings, proficiency checks for revalidation or renewal of class and type ratings, revalidation and renewal of IRs; and
IREs:
Are to conduct skill tests for the issue, and proficiency checks for the revalidation or renewal of EIRs or IRs.
Prerequisites
FEs:
Applicants shall hold an FI certificate in the appropriate aircraft category.
CREs:
Applicants shall hold a CPL(A), MPL(A) or ATPL(A) with single-pilot privileges or have held it and hold a PPL(A), hold a CRI or FI certificate with instructional privileges for the applicable class or type, and have completed 500 hours of flight time as a pilot on aeroplanes.
IREs:
Applicants shall hold an IRI(A) or an FI(A) certificate with the privilege to instruct for the IR(A) and shall have completed: 2000 hours of flight time as pilots of aeroplanes; and 450 hours of flight time under IFR, of which 250 hours shall be as an instructor.
Examiner Standardisation Course Structure
1. Two days theoretical instruction and written examination
2. practical instruction which includes the conduct of 2 skill tests, proficiency checks or assessments of competences for the licences, ratings or certificates for which the applicant seeks the privilege to conduct tests and checks;
Fees and Payment Schedule (for minimum hours as per above flight training program)
The total cost covering the training as mentioned above is €3.800, with the payments schedule been as follows:
€1.000 with enrolment into the course; and
Pay the balance prior to the start of the course.
